Cats and dogs should be wormed monthly with a suitable wormer until they are 6 months of age and then every 3 months for the rest of their lives. Check with your vet or chemist that the product you are using completely eliminates round worms. Routine worming in adult dogs and cats is done for public health reasons to reduce the numbers of strongyle eggs in the environment. Tapeworm treatments are only really needed in an animal that is passing worms but most products on the market cover tapeworm as well and are given at routine dosing intervals.
